Other things besides football

Since I'm sure it seems like all we do is football right now I'll update on the other things going on here.  Tyler and Elly do gymnastics, Tyler once a week and Elly two nights a week.
I am helping coach volleyball at the junior high in Huntington everyday.  Then Jay and I get to play co-ed volleyball together once a week and sometimes we squeeze in co-ed softball when our neighbors team needs us.
Jay and Tyler have also been busy deer hunting but came up with nothing.
Mason's life is pretty much football games and practice right now but he is loving junior high and hanging out with all his friends!
Drake is loving school and excited for me to be done coaching so he can start gymnastics again.
Kenyan is growing up and getting such a personality.  He makes us laugh all the time and really keeps us on our toes.  He loves to make trouble and water is his favorite thing.  He can find it anywhere and know how to turn it on.  He has finally started to say a couple of things but still not much.  His favorite is "ouchy" which always makes the kids laugh.  He understand pretty much everything I tell him which is really nice.   He loves dogs and dog books!  He loves to play with cars and trucks too.  He is finally getting better with other people which is nice.

Drake's football

Drakes team tonight had two games.  First they played a Huntington team and ended up losing 18-6.  They played really pretty good.  We are a pretty young team.  We have two 2nd graders and the rest are 1st graders.
The second game tonight we played another Huntington team and ended up getting a win!  We won 33-18!  Drake had two really good runs that got us almost to the end zone and then another kid ran it in for a touchdown the next play.  He had a couple really good catches one to get the extra points for us.
He got to throw the ball tonight too.  He had fun and loved it.  My camera was still dead so I only had my phone and Mason wanted to take the pictures instead of watch Kenyan so the pictures just aren't that great.  It was a exciting night of football.

Mason's football vs Huntington

Mason's team played Huntington today.  It seemed like the kids were only giving about half their effort from where us parents were sitting so they were lucky to still come out with a win today.  We had our teams first pick 6, which was pretty cool.  One of our 5th grades, Ethan, got it and was able to run it in for us.  Mason had a few good runs today.  They were covering around the ends really good today.
Mason got the ball one time and must have knew he wasn't going to run his route the normal way because he headed right back up the middle with it and found enough wholes and had good blocks from his team to make it to the end zone for a touchdown.
We missed all the extra points today!  Ethan ended up scoring three touchdowns today and Mason got the other one.  The final score was 24-6!  Mason did have a really good block that helped Ethan get in the end zone one of the times he made it there.
During the end of the 4th quarter these boys didn't get to play much since we were winning.  Mason is 23, Zack Tuttle is 18, Matt Olsen is 22, Ethan is 6 and Kade Larsen is 17.

Elly's football

Elly's team had two games tonight.  My camera died not to far into the first game so I only got a couple pictures of her tonight.  Of course it died before she got her touch down.  Tonight we played a Ferron team first and won 14-0.  The kids played really good and were fast to grab flags.
The second game we played a Cleveland team and lost 20-6.  Our kids still played pretty good.  The Cleveland team has a 5th grade girl that is pretty fast that they gave it to a couple of time and she got their touchdowns.  I am glad we got a win this week and so were the kids.  Elly had some good runs in both games and a touchdown in one of them.

Tyler's football vs Helper

Tyler's season is past half over now that we have started playing the teams again.  Tyler picked up the kick off two or three times today and got some decent yards every time.
Mason was the ball boy today.  They don't let the 6th grade play in games, they can only practice.
Tyler is the safety on defense and did a pretty good job there today.
This was a picture of one of the kick offs that Tyler ran back, this one he made it to the 45 yard line before they knocked him out of bounce.  This 11 from Helper is pretty good and fast.  I thought he was going to get Tyler here but Tyler did a good move and the kid missed him.  Tyler said he had a pretty bad mouth when he missed.
Tyler did ended up making a catch today for one of the extra points.  I think the final score was 36-7.  The boys all played really well today and it was a fun game to watch.

Mason's football vs Carbon Rec

I have no pictures from this game because Drake had a game the same night at different fields.  I was with Drake and Jay was with Mason.  Mason ran a punt back 64 yards for a touch down.  He caught the pass for extra points.  Mason had some other good runs and had a pick that he ran back to the 10 yard line.  Mason also had a kick off that he ran back for a touch down but they took it way because they called a block in the back.  We ended up beating them 26-6!

Drake's first flag football game of the season

Drake has been so excited for football to start this year.  He was suppose to play Thursday night but they got canceled because of rain and moved to Monday.  We started the year with 7 kids on the team but were already down to 6 before the first game.  One kid broke his collar bone, not during football.  Monday is a crazy day at our house.  We run from one thing to the next so adding another football game wasn't easy.
Drake loves football!  He had some really good runs tonight.
We ended up getting a win for our first game of the season 28-24, but the other team about made a come back on us.
We only had one game tonight because Drakes team had a bye for the second game.  As soon as his game was over we were running to try and get up to Mason's game and see some of it.  Jay didn't get to watch any of Drake tonight because he coaches Mason's team.

Masons team vs. Cleveland

Mason's team played Cleveland today.  We have been thinking they would be a good team.  They are all pretty big and only have two 5th graders.  Our team this year is really little but we have some fast kids which might help us since we are small.  Mason is number 23 and is wearing blue socks today which makes it easier to find him for me.
Mason is the guy in the middle of the group about to be tackled by his cousin, Wade.
Mason running the ball down the sideline, with Wade coming after him.  Wade is number 4 on the black team.
Mason running the ball in the middle of all the black guys.
Our boys getting ready for a play.
Mason trying to get past the kids to get the guy running the ball.
Mason picked up the kick off and is running it and hoping to gain some ground for us,
He is still running back the kick off through all these kids!
Mason is so fun to watch run.  They should have caught him a couple of times but he would find a way to get through.
He finally made it through all the guys and has a clear shot for a touchdown.
He made it in to score a touch down!!  It was a awesome run.  We ended up losing 32-12!  Mason scored both of our touch downs today so it was a good day for him.  He had lots of good tackles too.
Mason tackling his cousin, Wade.
It was a tough loss today but they did pretty good and can improve things before we meet up with them again in a couple of weeks.

Elly's flag football starts

Elly started flag football today.  She was sad Drake couldn't be on her team like he was last year.  Jay is her coach this year with Kyle Larsen.  This year she is one of the younger kids on the team.  Our first game we played the other Castle Dale team that has a lot of good players on it.  We ended up losing 33-2.  Elly came out crying on time because Jay had yelled at her for standing there.  Hopefully having her dad as her coach doesn't turn into a bad thing.  She did go back out and play fine the rest of the game.
Elly did pull some flags in the first game but she didn't really give it her best effort since she was not happy about being yelled at.
The second game all the kids played better.  We played a Huntington team.  We lost 20-12, which should have been 20-18 but they never put our points up.
Elly had a big run this game and scored a touch down for us, she probably ran 40 yards to get in the end zone.  Elly's cousin Porter is on our team this year.  He had a good run for us this game.
From the looks of tonight's games it might be a rough year.  They also might surprise us and start winning.

Tyler's team vs. Canyon View

Tyler's football team played the other junior high in the county, Canyon View, today.  The boys played really good.  When half time came we were 19-0!  The 8th grade boys started the third quarter but it wasn't long before the 7th grade came in and pretty much finished off the game.  While the 7th grade was in Canyon View scored a touchdown.  Then our 8th went back in and scored again.  By the time the game was over the final score was 26-8, I think.

Mason's first football game

Mason had his first football game today.  We played Orangeville.  Mason ran the first touchdown in and he got the extra point too!
Mason also caught a kick off and ran it back to the 10 yard line where a kid horse collard him to get him down.  I think he ran it from the 40 on the opposite side of the field down to the 10.
This little team was pretty fun to watch play today.  They have a tough season ahead of them but today went really good.  Chase, Kade, Matt and Mason each scored a touchdown today.  We ended up winning 28-0.  The fourth quarter our fifth grade boys ended up playing all of it.  I thought these boys taking it easy and watching their team play was cute.
Mason said it was so much fun!  They were all very excited to get a win to start the season off.
