Since we didn’t go camping over Memorial Day weekend we were just home hanging out and decided to take the kids and our neighbors, the Smiths, to do a slot canyon. We went to one called leprechaun canyon that is south of Hanksville about 25 minutes. The kids were all mad when we said we were going to go but then got there and loved it just like we thought they would.
The start of it was really sandy and gave your legs a little work out but it was mostly flat so not bad. The boys all took off as soon as we started so we didn’t see much of them.
We saw this big lizard while we were walking. It’s the biggest one I’ve seen when we have been out walking around.
While we were walking we got to a spot where we had to decide to go left or right and didn’t know which one to take. The problem was the boys had all ran off and we didn’t know which way they went. Mason had come back to us a little while before we got to this point and so he didn’t know which way they had gone either. Luckily Jay had given the little boys some radios so he was talking to them trying to figure out which way they had gone. Mason ran up this little hill that was between the two canyons to see if he could see the boys or hear them. He finally heard them and then saw them so we got up to them and looked up to see Mason up pretty high above us. Jay and Rob tried to help him done but ended up deciding it was to slippery and just had him run back and then come up to us.
We told the boys a number of times to just stay where they could see us or hear us but they didn’t listen very good.
These boys are such cute fun kids!
We came to this little spot where Jay went up on the rocks and we went through the bottom. It was pretty cool but got a little tight. Rob, Kara, me with the baby on, Elly, Kenyan, Baylor and Bryce were in the bottom The kids were able to go through pretty easy so they got ahead of us while we were trying to squeeze through some spots. We ended up having kids crying and us moms laughing and Rob deciding it was way to tight for him. Rob went back out and got on top with Jay.
This was the start of it. We didn’t think it was going to be to tight but it turned out to get pretty tight and then just closed up.
This was the view where Jay was walking.
Jay had to help all of us up out one kid, baby and mom at a time. It was pretty funny down in there.
Once we got out we soon came to this beautiful slot in the rocks. The sides were just these big rock walls and rock on the bottom. It was really a cool place.
The farther we walked the closer the walls got on us. At the end we can to a part that was so close it was as dark to walk through it.
I never get in the pictures since I’m always the one taking them so I had Elly get one of me and Tatton.

Dad was seeing if we could go any farther but it got to tight for the adults, the kids went up a little farther.

Drake climbing around.

We finally saw Tyler when we got to the end and then we turned around and headed back and didn’t see him again until we were back at the cars.

Mason had a tennis ball with him and was throwing it off the walls playing catch.

I wish the boys would have stayed close so we could have got a picture of all of us together.

On our way heading back to the cars we ended up losing Drake and jaxton. They had ran off with the two older boys and then must have decided to come back to us. We decided to walk up on the sides of the canyon instead of down in the bottom where it was all sandy. While we were up there Jaxton was in the bottom walking back up to us because he got separated from Drake and the boys and was by himself. We spent probably ten minutes trying to figure out where he was on the radios, luckily Jaxton had one with him. Rob headed back up to find him. He could hear us when we were yelling at him and then he saw his Dad. So glad we were able to find him fast and get everyone back safe.

While we were waiting for Jaxton to get to us the girls found a place to sit and get a picture together.

Here are all the crazy kids we had with us!

Jay and me together since I don’t get many of these and have been trying to get more pictures of us.

Kenyan loved the sand that was there and was having a pretty serious time talking to it.

Kenyan sure knows how to get dirty fast!

On our way home we stopped in Hanksville for some ice cream at Stan’s.

We had a fun time with Rob and Kara and their kids doing a slot canyon. Good friends and fun memories!
