This last Saturday we were just hanging out with nothing really important to do. It was really a pretty nice day so we decided, spur of the moment, to take the kids on a cool hike we had seen on TV. It turned out to be more of a walk then a hike since it was mostly flat walking, which I really liked and it made it easier on the kids. After a little drive and a flat tire we headed out. We had the kids in their boggs because we thought it might be muddy, which it wasn't. The next time we do this they will have better shoes so they can run around easier.
I didn't want to haul a big camera with me so all I had was the ipod with me. The pictures aren't the best but you can tell it was still a pretty cool place.
The kids loved all the holes in the rocks. They could climb through some of them, sit in them and use them to climb up the wall.
There were a bunch of spots where the kids could have played for a long time, but we were trying to get down it and back as far as we could before it got dark on us.
The places like this were really cool.
There were a few places where Jay had to help us all down and then up on the way back.
There were cool rocks to climb under that the kids really liked too.
We had to keep telling the kids to be careful because they were so excited to see what was around the next corner or they would climb up the sides without even thinking about how they were going to get down. There was one spot where the rock was smooth enough they were able to slide down it. I wish I would have videoed it. It was pretty funny!
Drake was so good. He never cried. When we were walking through one spot where it echoed we were all making noises and so he started to do it too. He was so good.
The kids had so much fun. Mason and Tyler were always way out in front of us until Mason fell off a rock and scrapped up his back and bum. Then he didn't like it and was ready to go home. It took him a few minutes before he realized he was okay and started having fun again. It was a good thing Jay had some bandages with him.
Jay found this hole to climb up through. Mason and Tyler wanted to try it after they saw Jay do it. Jay is reaching down in the hole to try and help pull Mason up out of it.
Here comes Mason!
Here comes Tyler!
The boys found so many cool places down there.
Elly found someone play phone in the car and carried it with her the whole time. She did some talking on it and even had to tell us to wait because she needed to make a call. What a kid!
The kids and me when we were getting close to the end of our walk.
This was what Mason loved most about this place. They could climb all over.
More cool places to sit and wait.
This was just a really neat place to take the kids and spend sometime together.
When we got back to the car the kids played in the dirt while Jay cooked us up some hot dogs.
It seems like Mason is always the one getting hurt. While they were playing in the dirt Tyler got Mason with the shovel right by his eye. This is the second time this has happened to him from Tyler. Lucky for us it wasn't as bad as the first time since we were out of bandages because of his other accident.
Mason showing us the cut by his eye and his bandaged up back and bum.
Tyler felt pretty bad. It was an accident and kids just don't pay attention very well at all.
The kids got to shoot their BB guns while we were there too.
Jay is our cook when we go and do things like this, which is a nice little break for me.
We had a great time spending the day together exploring a really neat place. We are planning to do it again sometime soon. Next time we plan to get their earlier so we have more time to let the kids play as we go.
